Dr. Kristin Ven Bruusgaard is a Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow at CISAC funded by the MacArthur Foundation. Her research focuses on Russian nuclear strategy, conventional and nuclear deterrence and crisis dynamics. She has previously been a Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS), worked a senior security policy analyst in the Norwegian Armed Forces, at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and at the Congressional Research Service (CRS) in Washington, D.C., and at NATO HQ. She holds a Ph.D in Defence Studies from King’s College London and an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University. Her work has been published in Security Dialogue, Survival, War on the Rocks, Texas National Security Review, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the National Interest and by the U.S. Army War College.
