Biography
Tim Stearns is the Frank Lee and Carol Hall Professor of Biology at Stanford University and Professor of Genetics at Stanford School of Medicine. He is the chair of the Department of Biology. Dr. Stearns’ lab studies the structure and function of the centrosome and cilium in animal cells and the relationship of defects in these important signaling centers to human disease. He has been recognized for his teaching of undergraduates and graduate students at Stanford, and internationally in Chile, Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania. Dr. Stearns is a member of JASON, an independent group of scientists which advises the United States government on matters of science and technology.
