Biography

Lt Col W. Austin Street is the Commander, 21st Airlift Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, California. He leads Air Mobility Command's busiest airlift squadron, responsible for employing thirteen C-17A aircraft and organizing, training, and equipping over 160 combat-ready aircrew members and civilian personnel. The 21st Airlift Squadron provides Rapid Global Mobility by conducting strategic and theater airlift, presidential support, aeromedical evacuation, and a variety of other operations in support of the United States' national objectives across the globe.

Lt Col Street commissioned into the Air Force in June 2005 after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy and earned a master's degree in 2013 from the University of Massachusetts. He is a distinguished graduate of Air Command and Staff College, an Air University Fellow, and a graduate of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. His previous assignments include Joint Base Charleston and Altus Air Force Base as a C-17A Special Operations Low Level II pilot, and a lead airdrop instructor pilot with multiple deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and NEW DAWN. Lt Col Street is a command pilot with more than 3,500 hours and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. Prior to his current position, he served as Chief of Safety, 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California.
