Jennifer Greenburg

Jennifer Greenburg is a feminist political geographer whose research examines the spatial politics of war, gender, militarism, and humanitarianism. She is Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Sheffield and directs the collaborative research project Understanding and Reimagining U.S. Beliefs about Militarism, funded by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation in partnership with Brown University’s Costs of War project and Purdue University’s Public Policy Research Institute. The project combines public opinion research, community-based fieldwork, and public engagement to better understand how Americans think about war and military spending. Greenburg is the author of At War with Women: Military Humanitarianism and Imperial Feminism in an Era of Permanent War (Cornell University Press, 2023). She received her PhD in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley, was a THINK Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford, and held a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University’s Watson School of International and Public Affairs.
