Biography

Emily Tallo is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Global Security Research at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University. She earned her Ph.D. in political science, specializing in international relations, at the University of Chicago in 2025. Her research examines the influence of domestic politics on international security, with a regional emphasis on South Asia. Her book project examines why leaders politicize their foreign policy bureaucracies and the implications of such politicization. Her other work focuses on the connections between political parties, public opinion, and foreign policy, especially in India. Prior to academia, Emily was a researcher at the Henry L. Stimson Center’s South Asia Program and editor of the online magazine South Asian Voices.
