Jim Goldgeier elected President of the International Studies Association
Goldgeier will serve as ISA President for the 2027–2028 term.
Jim Goldgeier, professor and PhD program director at the School of International Service at American University and research affiliate at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, has been elected President of the International Studies Association (ISA) for 2027-2028.
Goldgeier is a scholar of U.S. foreign policy, NATO, and European security whose career spans academia, public service, and policy institutions. He has held senior roles at American University, serving as Dean of the School of International Service, and previously directed the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at George Washington University.
His policy experience includes serving on the National Security Council staff as Director for Russian, Ukrainian, and Eurasian Affairs, as well as fellowships at the Council on Foreign Relations, the Hoover Institution, and the Library of Congress.
